About the Role
The Mackay Hospital and Health Service is seeking two experienced Clinical Nurses (Grade 6) to join the Mental Health - Hinterland team. These roles provide mental health assessment, intervention, and support to clients across rural and remote communities in the Hinterland region. Nurses can be based either at Moranbah Community Health Centre or in Mackay, with outreach travel as required.
Requirements
* Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
* Minimum 5 years' post‑graduate experience in mental health nursing
* Sound knowledge of community and rural mental health care
* Strong assessment, communication, and case management skills
* Ability to work autonomously and in multidisciplinary teams
* Current driver's licence and willingness to travel to outreach areas

Duration: Approximately 6‑8 weeks
Working Days: Monday to Friday
Days Off: Saturday, Sunday & public holidays
Hours: 0800 - 1630 hrs (up to 80 hours per fortnight; overtime applies after 80 hours)
Bed and Scope
This is a community‑based mental health role focusing on early intervention, ongoing support, and recovery for clients living in rural and remote Hinterland areas. Nurses will deliver clinical services both onsite and via outreach visits, supported by the wider MHHS Mental Health team.
