The key responsibilities include:
Lead the end-to-end preparation and delivery of annual financial statements, ensuring adherence to Australian Accounting Standards and Commonwealth reporting requirements.
Coordinate all aspects of the external audit, acting as the primary liaison with internal and external auditors to ensure a smooth and timely process.
Oversee monthly and annual financial reporting to stakeholders and provide high-quality financial analysis and insights to senior management and governing bodies.
Manage and support a small team, fostering a team-oriented culture and contributing to the broader leadership of the Finance section.
Provide oversight of cash management, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll functions, ensuring efficient and effective financial operations.
Collaborate closely with other finance functions—including budgeting, procurement, and financial systems—to ensure integrated and efficient financial operations.
Develop and maintain financial accounting policies and procedures, preparing high-level reports to support compliance and strategic decision-making.
Identify and lead opportunities for continuous improvement in financial processes, systems, and reporting practices.
Represent the institution in internal and external forums as required.
