The Role
The Mining Engineer will support the delivery of efficient, safe, and cost-effective mine planning and project work across the Bengalla operation.
As a Mining Engineer At Bengalla, You Will
* Develop dig and dump designs using mine planning software to enable safe and efficient execution
* Sequence complex and interdependent mining activities using scheduling software to achieve production targets
* Plan material haulage considering haul intensity, congestion, dump variability, and material placement
* Support rehabilitation delivery by planning suitable material placement aligned to the mining sequence
* Plan and coordinate coal mining processes, including stockpile management, coal blending, and rehandle activities, with reconciliation against plan
* Design mine roads, ramps, and intersections in accordance with site standards
* Provide plans and guidance for infrastructure supporting current mining operations and future mine progression
* Identify improvement opportunities and support implementation initiatives
* Contribute to the ongoing development of planning systems, processes, and the role itself
* Participate in mine planning routines, including inspections, meetings, and presentations
* Actively contribute to safe operations through compliance with the Bengalla safety management system
What You'll Need
* Open-cut coal mine planning experience, ideally within a multi-seam operation and working closely with production teams
* Strong mine design and scheduling capability
* Well-developed judgement, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
* Clear written and verbal communication skills, with strong numerical analysis and data validation capability
* A strong focus on safe work practices and experience working within defined systems, standards, and procedures
* Well-developed planning and organisational skills
* Competency with mine planning software, scheduling tools, and spreadsheets
* Ability to respectfully challenge existing practices and drive performance improvement
* A professional approach and a proactive, can-do attitude
