Brighton Council is growing! As our community continues to expand and as major projects progress across the municipality, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Waste & Resource Recovery Project Officer to join our Asset Services team.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to one of Tasmania's most dynamic and rapidly developing regions. You'll play an important role in supporting the delivery of high‐quality, reliable and sustainable waste and resource recovery services—helping to shape positive environmental outcomes for our community.

The Role: As a collaborative and solutions‐focused professional, you will:

* Support the Director Asset Services in delivering Council's Strategic Plan and waste‐related strategies.
* Develop and deliver waste and resource recovery projects across key waste streams.
* Lead contract administration for kerbside collection and disposal services.
* Oversee Waste Transfer Station operations to ensure safe, compliant and customer‐focused service delivery.
* Manage waste‐infrastructure projects from planning through to construction.
* Collect and analyse waste‐related data for decision‐making and compliance.
* Support waste education, community engagement and behaviour‐change initiatives.
* Provide specialist advice and customer support to residents, businesses and stakeholders.

About You

You hold tertiary qualifications in Business, Commerce, Project Management or a related discipline, or possess significant relevant experience (3+ years) within the waste or sustainability sectors.

You bring demonstrated experience in delivering waste and resource recovery services, including managing waste‐related projects or contracts. You have strong analytical and reporting capabilities, with the ability to collect, interpret and present waste‐related data.

You're an effective communicator who can engage confidently with stakeholders and prepare clear, well‐structured reports and documentation. You also demonstrate strong time‐management and problem‐solving skills, ensuring projects are delivered on time and to a high standard.

You have sound knowledge of relevant legislation, environmental standards and WHS requirements.

More information on the position can be found in the position profile document on Council's website at: Brighton Council.

Why Join Us?

Be part of a team committed to delivering sustainable waste and resource recovery outcomes for a growing community. You'll work collaboratively with a supportive Council and key stakeholders to enhance waste services, improve environmental performance and contribute to Brighton Council's vision for a resilient, sustainable and thriving municipality.
