Tamworth Hospital’s Surgical 2 Ward is a 26-bed Surgical unit, providing patient centred care to a large and complex variety of patients including trauma patients, elective orthopaedic procedures and complex medical patients. On any given day, our Orthopaedic Registered Nurses (RN’s) are managing patients in the post-operative phase via attending to medications and activities of daily living; assisting with mobility and progression post-surgical procedures or post trauma; and working within a multidisciplinary team to ensure best discharge outcomes for patients. For the right candidate, there are opportunities to develop new skills in orthopaedics such as traction, care of spinal injuries, management of acute fractures, external fixaters and care of compartment syndrome.
You won’t be working alone. You will be supported by the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM), the Team Leader, as well as the Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE), Orthopaedic Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) and Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS’) within the ward. The unit works on a 7-day rotating roster offering 12-hour shifts. You will be provided with a thorough orientation once you come on board, and your leadership team will assist to develop a learning plan to suit your individual needs.
As our new Orthopaedic RN, you will:
1) Work well and enjoy being part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team
2) Display willingness to learn new skills and in turn assist other staff.
3) Communicate clearly and effectively with both patients and other staff
4) Demonstrate your previous experience in surgical nursing
