 
        
        Senior Accountant Needed, Bendigo Based Role, Full-Time Temp Position, Opportunity for Perm

Hays Recruitment Bendigo are working with a well-known organisation that are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to oversee the day-to-day financial operations of their organisation. This role is critical to maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with Australian accounting standards, and supporting timely reporting across the business. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial reporting, budgeting, payroll, and tax compliance, including BAS, PAYG, and superannuation obligations. They will also supervise a small finance team, review internal processes, and provide practical financial advice to senior management. The successful applicant will be hands-on, reliable, and capable of improving systems while keeping operations running smoothly. 
Your new role 
As an experienced Senior Accountant you will be responsible for, but not limited to the following duties:
- Coordinate core accounting functions, including AP/AR, GL, and reconciliations
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports with analysis and recommendations
- Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections
- Lead preparation of BAS, FBT, PAYG, and other statutory tax obligations
- Manage audit preparation, liaise with external auditors, and resolve findings
- Oversee payroll processing and ensure compliance with Fair Work
- Provide financial guidance to senior managers and business unit leaders
- Support financial planning, risk management, and business continuity initiatives
- Review and advise on financial systems, processes, and internal controls
- Conduct periodic reviews of contracts (e.g. insurance, leases) for financial efficiency
- Coordinate stocktake processes and advise on inventory valuation and purchasing practices
- Liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure financial integration across departments
- Contribute to board-level reporting and strategic financial decision-making
What you'll need to succeed 
- CA or CPA
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required.
- 5+ years of accounting experience.
- Strong financial analysis and reporting experience/skills.
- Well-developed Microsoft Office, particularly Excel skills.
- Experience in leading technology, data and systems development and implementation.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work with colleagues and unit managers to achieve priorities.
