Claremont Special School is seeking an innovative and highly organised Head of Department - Senior Schooling to lead our senior pathways and transition initiatives.
Position Type: Temporary Part-time (0.5 FTE, 50 hours per fortnight). Duration: 13 July 2026 to 25 June 2027.
Responsibilities
* Coordinate and oversee ASDAN and SETA programs to ensure high-quality delivery and student engagement.
* Support families and students in planning successful transitions to post-school options, including employment, further education, and community participation.
* Provide guidance on NDIS planning and liaise with external agencies to maximise opportunities for students.
* Lead curriculum development for senior programs aligned with departmental priorities and individual student goals.
* Collaborate with staff to embed life skills, vocational learning, and independence into teaching and learning.
Must-Have Skills and Experience
* Current Queensland teacher registration and eligibility for leadership roles.
* Demonstrated experience in curriculum leadership and senior schooling pathways.
* Strong understanding of inclusive education and transition planning for students with disabilities.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong partnerships with families and external providers.
* Familiarity with ASDAN programs and SETA requirements.
Nice-to-Have Skills and Experience
* Knowledge of NDIS processes and post-school options for students with disabilities.
* Experience in vocational education, work experience coordination, or community engagement.
* Background in coaching and mentoring staff.
