- Full time continuing (tenure-track) academic Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor (Education Focused) positions at The University of Sydney

- Base Salary Level C/D $156,103p.a. - $207,069p.a. (pro-rata for part time appointments) + 17% superannuation

- Join the Horizon Educators cohort, with access to apply for Education Focused specialist grants up to a total of AUD$30K to support education-related activities, primarily in the areas of scholarship of teaching and learning and improving current educational offerings at the University of Sydney

About the opportunity

The University of Sydney welcomes applications for Education Focused Academics (Sydney Horizon Educators) in the academic disciplines outlined below, during an exciting and innovative time. With the introduction of the current University of Sydney Enterprise Agreement, the University has committed to establishing and advertising new continuing education-focused (EF) academic positions across The University of Sydney Business School.

You will have the opportunity to make a significant contribution to teaching in your field of expertise while you also continue to build substantial research contribution, expertise, connections, and impact. As part of this role, you will also contribute to the governance, leadership, and engagement work of your employing school.

Over time, staff appointed to these roles will be supported to engage with professional development opportunities to build their capability to lead change and improvement in teaching and research at the University.

By offering these education focused roles the University aims to attract and retain the best and brightest emerging academics, within a specialised category of academic engagement. Positions in this opportunity are for talented educators with a passion for, and demonstrated excellence in, educational practice and innovation, and research capability (in disciplinary and/or education-related research). This newly recruited group of educators will support an uplift in the teaching capability and student experience at the University of Sydney, while also developing as leaders in the education space at the University.

Successful candidates will be expected to dedicate most of their contribution to teaching and teaching-related activities (70%), while also engaging in research (20%) and governance, leadership, and engagement (10%). Successful appointees support, coordinate, and teach undergraduate and postgraduate coursework Units of Study. Laboratory tutorial, studio class deliveries, and workshop management and teaching may also be a key part of the roles. These positions may also assist and guide the academic coordinators of other units within the discipline.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

- undertake a leadership role in educational innovation, curriculum design and review, contributing to outstanding educational delivery and outcomes
- design and engage in high-quality teaching and learning experiences which meet the University’s expectations and standards for education
- delivering outstanding teaching and learning outcomes for students
- develop teaching and unit materials, working with more senior academics within the University
- maintain relevant Work, Health and Safety requirements and management including laboratory and/or field work
- through research and scholarly creative work, contribute to knowledge within your discipline or area of expertise, particularly as it relates to teaching and learning in your discipline
- develop and refine your education research skills, particularly as they relate to evaluating and improving teaching and learning in your discipline
- maintain high quality, standards and excellence in your educational activities and output
- contribute to the governance, leadership, and engagement work in your school.

Institute of Transport and Logistics Studies

Established in 1991, the Institute of Transport and Logistics Studies is a renowned international centre for the latest thinking on transport, infrastructure, logistics and supply chain management. Our research has been rated well above world standard. We aim to contribute to the design, management and optimisation of infrastructure, transport, logistics and supply chain initiatives around the globe.

- Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor in Logistics & Supply Chain Management (Education Focused) - Women Only Level C/D

These positions are exempt under section 126 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977, to conduct targeted recruitment programs for women.

In this role, you will lead and support curriculum delivery in inter-disciplinary programs in Logistics and Supply Chain Management studies. You will contribute to the educational and administrative duties of the Institute and School and support the further development of a positive workplace culture, aligned to the strategic direction of the Business School and University. You will be expected to design and deliver holistic transformational educational experiences of excellent quality to develop responsible leaders and support their lifelong learning. You are expected to engage with industry government civil society and academia to produce excellent research with clear significant local and global impact and develop a strong profile with external stakeholders.

Discipline Areas

Discipline of International Business

- Associate Professor in International Business (Education Focused) Level D

The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in international business, including international management, Global Strategy, and International Entrepreneurship, alongside a strong record of curriculum development, pedagogical innovation, and student engagement. Experience in teaching MBA and/or EMBA cohorts is required.

Selection Criteria:

- a PhD in International Business, Management, or a closely related field
- extensive teaching experience in international business, strategy, and/or cross-cultural management at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, with MBA/EMBA teaching experience
- a proven record of curriculum innovation, learning design, and the use of digital and experiential teaching methods
- evidence of educational leadership and impact, such as program directorships, teaching awards, or contributions to international business education communities
- engagement in scholarship of teaching and learning, with the ability to produce impactful research on pedagogy or international business education.

Discipline of Business Information Systems

- Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor in Business Information Systems (Education Focused) Level C/D

In this role, you will play a central part in crafting a vision for the digital future of business and society, and in designing ways to engage students with this research-driven, future-oriented agenda. As leaders in business education, we offer a modern digital business curriculum at all levels.

Key responsibilities include: design and deliver innovative curricula for undergraduate, postgraduate management and executive audiences; support lifelong learning offerings; develop industry collaborations; maintain research in Business Information Systems; contribute to governance and service activities.

Discipline of Marketing

- Senior Lecturer in Marketing (Education Focused) Level C

We are at the forefront of developing micro-credentials and lifelong learning opportunities, in line with Strategy. Areas of expertise include consumer decision-making and behaviour, international marketing, and consumer culture.

Discipline of Strategy, Innovation and Entrepreneurship

- Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor in Strategy Innovation and Entrepreneurship (Education Focused) Level C/D

Selection Criteria:

- a proven track record, passion, and ability to engage in scholarly activities that inform innovative pedagogical practices in strategy, innovation, and entrepreneurship
- experience teaching strategy, innovation, or entrepreneurship units to diverse cohorts and curriculum development
- experience in external engagement.
