About the role
The Department for Education is committed to ensuring the best educational outcomes for children and young people in South Australia. The department is implementing a range of reforms to improve the educational opportunities for every south Australian child and to better meet the needs of the South Australian community. Pivotal to these reforms is the department’s intent to deliver high-performing, world-class information and communication services.
The Senior Business Analyst is responsible to the Applications Team Leader for contributing to the delivery of multiple strategic reform projects that aim to improve business processes, streamline service delivery, and enhance user experience across corporate, school, and preschool sites statewide. The role will support the Applications Services team in analysing and challenging existing practices to ensure application systems align with ICT strategic priorities and industry best practice.
Working within this context, the Senior Business Analyst will undertake detailed business and technical analysis of multiple existing systems and user journeys, including associated processes, dependencies, and opportunities for improvement. This includes evaluating the potential advantages, risks, and impacts of transitioning to new systems and service providers.
The Analyst will produce comprehensive user journey maps, process documentation, technical specifications, and system requirements through structured discovery processes. In addition, the Senior Business Analyst will work closely with business and technical analysts, software developers, subject matter experts, vendors, and external service providers across several specialised project streams to deliver a consolidated options analysis that supports informed decision-making and aligns with project objectives and timelines.
Qualifications
Essential: Nil
Desirable: Degree or other qualification in information technology/business or relevant industry.
Special conditions
The successful applicant is required to gain a Department for Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to being employed which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry.
The incumbent will be required to undertake RRHAN –EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education Care) Facilitator Lead (Masterclass) extended course or the online (Fundamentals) course which will be required to be updated every three years.

Remuneration
ASO7 $108,109 - 116,864 per annum (1.0 FTE) + superannuation (12%) and leave loading
