Job Summary
The Nurse Aide role involves providing basic nursing care to patients, ensuring their comfort and well-being.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver personal care services, including bathing, grooming, and positioning patients for meals and rest.
Respond promptly to patient needs, utilizing signal lights and bells to determine requirements.
Collect and process various specimens, such as stool, urine, and sputum.
Record vital signs and collect pertinent patient information, adhering to hospital policy.
Assist patients with feeding, provide nourishment between meals, and encourage fluid intake when necessary.
Aid in the progressive ambulation of patients using wheelchairs, stretchers, and beds.
Administer enemas, douches, and insert rectal tubes, documenting procedures accordingly.
Apply ace bandages, elastic stockings, and other medical dressings as required.
Provide postmortem care and transport bodies to the morgue.
Use restraints and siderails to ensure patient safety.
Maintain isolation techniques and provide direct patient care for isolated patients.
Participate in colostomy care and set up orthopedic appliances.
Perform errands, deliver messages, and answer telephones as needed.
Maintain a safe environment by identifying and reporting hazards.
Prepare patients for surgery, x-rays, and other medical procedures.
Ensure patients are prepared for examination and treatment by:
* Remaining with them unless relieved;
* Providing necessary equipment and supplies;
* Cleaning up and restocking areas.
Requirements
Successful completion of a hospital-approved Nursing Aide Training Program is required.
Three months of on-the-job training are necessary to attain proficiency in assigned duties and responsibilities.
