As we're now entering an exciting new era, expanding into the digital print market, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an Estimator and Designer to join the Opal Specialty Packaging team at our Rocklea, QLD site. This is a great opportunity to expand your design capabilities whilst being part of a great team and working environment.
You will contribute to the success of Opal by:
* Designing product packaging and basic graphics for visualisation and concept presentations, as well as products for custom applications.
* Supporting the creation of product illustrations, concept sketches, diagrams, design specifications and technical drawings (die lines).
* Evaluating design ideas with consideration of appearance, design-function relationships, serviceability, materials and methods engineering, application, budget, price, production costs, methods of production, market characteristics, and client specifications.
* Fulfilling our speed-to-market agenda, driving our digital strategy
* Providing day to day quoting support to our sales team members
* Contributing and participating in the tender process from initial quoting through to commercial analysis
* Improving customer margin by identifying cost savings opportunities on new and existing materials
* Being the key contact in various project work that requires quoting, costing and onboarding of customers

* Packaging design and estimating experience
* The ability to articulate and communicate creative ideas via concept sketching or verbal presentations
* A good understanding of 3-dimensional form and space
* Ability to prepare accurate technical specifications (e.g. die lines) for quotation & manufacturing
* Ability to use CAD programs to create models & renderings
* Ability to build physical models and prototypes to bring creative concepts to life
* Ability to work independently and prioritise with good time & project management skills
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
