We are currently recruiting for a Saxophone Specialist Tutor to conduct individual private lessons, group lessons and ensemble rehearsals. The successful candidate will be able to plan, organise, maintain and implement saxophone lessons within the Ipswich Grammar School Extra-Curricular Music Program under the supervision of the Head of Department - The Arts and Director of Performance. Lessons are conducted during the school day and before and after school where required. At present, these lessons occur on two days each week, with the opportunity for the program to increase.
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Planning, timetabling and preparing of lessons, setting repertoire, assessing, recording and reporting on development, progress and attainment;
* Preparing and entering students for AMEB examinations, recording and reporting assessment results and attending meetings connected with the conduct of examinations;
* Communicate effectively and consult with the parents of students, including the writing of reports and timetables;
* Positively encourage students to succeed;
* Proactively complete all necessary paperwork required for the services provided;
* Participate in departmental meetings and take responsibility for following directions;
* Participate where required in Extra-curricular performance events that may occur during and after-school hours; and
* Conduct and manage ensembles where required.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
* A formal qualification in Woodwind, Music Performance and/or Pedagogy;
* Demonstrated experience in woodwind performance at an advanced level;
* Experience and competency in conducting ensembles and individual instrumental lessons;
* Demonstrated organisational, interpersonal, communications and the ability to work with MS Word, Excel, Outlook and program formats relevant to the administration of the school;
* Communicate effectively and consult with the parents of students, including the writing of reports and timetabling
* High level of professionalism and interpersonal skills.
The ability to teach Piano would be highly regarded.
