Join a world leader in rail technology and maintenance EDI Rail Bombardier – Transportation (Maintenance) Pty Ltd is seeking a motivated Yard Operations Assistant to provide essential operational and maintenance support at our Nowergup facility. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a team that keeps Perth's passenger rail network running safely and efficiently.
About the Role
In this hands-on role, you'll support the Yard Operations Team with daily yard activities, ensuring the safe movement of railcars, maintaining cleanliness, and assisting with general maintenance tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
Railcar Movements
* Drive or pilot passenger trains within the Nowergup facility (for qualified and competent staff).
* Follow all movement instructions to ensure safe operations within the yard
Yard Operations & Maintenance
* Perform general yard duties including poster installation/removal, weed spraying, water bottle refilling, and housekeeping.
* Assist with washing, rinsing, and graffiti removal on passenger trains using appropriate cleaning products and safety equipment.
* Conduct pre-inspection checks on incoming trains — review driver logbooks, gather verbal reports, and inspect for service needs.
* Carry out minor facility or rollingstock maintenance tasks (as trained).
Qualifications
* Valid Class C Driver's Licence (required for operating company vehicles or Kubota equipment).
* Demonstrated ability and willingness to be multi-skilled and up-skilled.
* Commitment to continuous learning and maintaining role-relevant competencies.
