Job Overview
The Sydney Genome Diagnostics Department provides a range of Cytogenetic/Cytogenomic testing services. The role involves performing cytogenetic, molecular cytogenetic and/or molecular genetic investigations employing various techniques, including tissue culture, chromosome preparation, banding, karyotyping, fluorescent in-situ hybridisation (FISH), QF-PCR, chromosome microarray, and/or other molecular diagnostic techniques.
Additional techniques include bright-field microscopy and spectral karyotyping. The source of material used for testing may be human cells or DNA from blood, bone marrow, pregnancy tissue, solid tumour, other human tissues, or formalin-fixed archival tissue.
Key Responsibilities:
* Perform cytogenetic and molecular cytogenetic investigations using various techniques.
* Conduct tissue culture, chromosome preparation, banding, karyotyping, FISH, QF-PCR, and other molecular diagnostic tests.
* Use bright-field microscopy and spectral karyotyping as required.
* Source material may include human cells or DNA from various sources.
