Apply your clinical expertise in anaesthesia, acute pain and perioperative medicine to patients at the Royal Darwin and Palmerston Hospitals (RDPH).
RDPH is the principle tertiary hospital within the region and provides a broad range of referral services in all specialist areas to Darwin, the Top End of the NT, Western Australia and South-East Asia. Royal Darwin Hospital (RDH) is recognised as Australia's National Critical care and Trauma Response Centre, and Palmerston Regional Hospital (PRH) is a satellite campus providing elective surgical services.
As a Specialist Anaesthetist you are responsible for providing specialist-level anaesthesia, acute pain and perioperative medicine services to the RDH, PRH as well as Surgical Outreach visits. You will participate in the development of the discipline of Anaesthesia and Perioperative Medicine and the supervision of Safety and Quality Improvement activities and ensure a safe and strategic approach to high quality standards. In addition, you will be required to provide emergency after-hours care and consultancy services on a roster basis and participate in related education activities.
To meet the challenges of this specialist role, you require Specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia, and Fellowship with the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists or equivalent. Demonstrated ability to interact positively in a cross-cultural work environment and a commitment to providing and improving healthcare for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people is essential.
