About the Job
We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic people leader with pet care/animal handling experience for the PERMANENT FULL-TIME position of Pet Welfare Supervisor at our Pet Hotel in Heathcote, south of Sydney. The successful candidate will work 4 x 9.5 hour shifts per week on a rotating roster, between 7am and 7pm, Monday to Sunday. Every third weekend is a Long Weekend Off!
This role reports directly to the Pet Hotel Manager and involves overseeing a team of passionate pet care attendants, ensuring the overall health and welfare of the pets, leading by example, and maintaining high standards of customer service and SOP compliance.
Responsibilities include:
Performing pet welfare duties such as emergency care, illness management, medication prep, and hygiene management.
Coordinating veterinary interventions as needed.
About You
You are reliable, motivated, and an experienced team leader with excellent communication skills and empathy. You should have:
Minimum 3 years’ experience in vet nursing, kennel hand, or animal attendant roles in a medium to large facility.
3+ years’ experience in operational supervision/people leadership.
Confidence in training, guiding, and providing feedback to team members.
Availability to work shifts across 7 days/week, including weekends and peak periods.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication skills.
Ideally, Level III or IV certifications in Animal Care Services, Veterinary Nursing, or related fields.
Current unrestricted NSW Driver’s Licence.
Physical Requirements
This is an active role involving indoor and outdoor work, handling animals up to 50kg, and performing physical tasks such as lifting, restraining, and communication with stakeholders.
