Enterprise Procurement, UQ Finance. Full‐time, permanent position.
About This Opportunity
As a Procurement Category Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering strategic procurement outcomes across The University of Queensland. Working within Enterprise Procurement in UQ Finance, you will collaborate with senior stakeholders across faculties, institutes and central divisions to deliver category‐led procurement that creates value, manages risk and supports UQ's strategic objectives. This role sits within a professional, collaborative and future‐focused team committed to operational excellence and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
* Leading end‐to‐end strategic procurement and sourcing activities, including market analysis, procurement planning, tendering, negotiation and contract formation.
* Managing assigned procurement categories and providing high‐level strategic and operational advice to senior stakeholders on procurement strategies and outcomes.
* Developing and managing complex goods and services contracts, embedding service level agreements, performance measures and risk controls.
* Contributing to the continuous improvement of procurement policies, procedures and practices to ensure compliance with Queensland Government legislation and University policy.
About You
* A postgraduate qualification in Commerce, Business or a related discipline, or equivalent procurement qualifications with extensive relevant experience.
* Demonstrated experience leading end‐to‐end tendering and sourcing activities in a complex organisation.
* Proven expertise in category management, including planning, sourcing, contract management and supplier relationship management.
* Strong negotiation, communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to advise and influence at senior levels.
* Well‐developed analytical, research and problem‐solving skills to deliver optimal commercial and non‐financial outcomes.
* Experience applying risk management principles and ensuring compliance with governance and policy frameworks.
* Ability to work autonomously while contributing positively to a collaborative, collegiate team environment.
* Commitment to professional development and to leveraging systems, including AI‐enabled tools, to drive efficiency and improvement.
