About The Role
Technology and Asset Services delivers technology solutions that drive performance and efficiency and ensure facilities and physical spaces are safe and functional. The Senior Software Developer develops, maintains, and supports the Department's ICT applications and information systems. The role requires expert knowledge of contemporary technologies to translate business requirements into solutions, developing them through continual engagement with key stakeholders.
More Specifically, You Will
* Design, develop, maintain, and enhance information systems, software and solutions in line with business needs and departmental objectives.
* Collaborate with stakeholders to determine user requirements and deliver solutions that meet business and technical needs.
* Provide expert advice, analysis, and recommendations for developing solutions, changes to technologies, and relevant policy, procedures, goals and objectives to enable project success.
* Produce technical documentation and write clean, efficient, well-documented code with emphasis on quality and scalability.
* Offer timely and expert guidance to senior leadership on opportunities offered by evolving technology and industry trends to improve system reliability in alignment with department plans.
* Engage with staff across the department to facilitate change management and deliver a positive client experience.
* Contribute to a safe, diverse and healthy work environment by working in accordance with legislative requirements, the Code of Ethics for the South Australian Public Sector and departmental HR policies.
* Demonstrate and uphold the DSD Customer Service Principles and Service Standards in service delivery to customers, ensuring responsiveness and professionalism.
Key Competencies
Essential Technical Experience And Knowledge
* Demonstrated experience in designing, developing and supporting solutions using Microsoft and open-source platforms such as Docker and RabbitMQ.
* Extensive knowledge and experience in web-based technologies.
* Proven experience in designing, testing, debugging, and documenting software applications and features, with customer engagement experience.
* Experience in system analysis, technical research, and producing documentation to support robust and efficient systems.
Personal Skills
* Creative problem solving, analytical thinking, and ability to provide improvement recommendations.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to discuss technical concepts clearly and build relationships.
* Ability to operate under limited direction, set priorities, and achieve quality results amidst competing priorities.
Remuneration
Competitive salary will be offered as $98,478 to $104,165 per annum plus superannuation

Qualifications
Essential: n/a
Desirable: Tertiary qualifications in commerce, economics, business, project management or similar and relevant industry experience.
Special Conditions
This position will be offered as a full-time, 12-month contract.
A satisfactory Department of Human Services Criminal History Check or National Police Check (NPC) will be required prior to employment.
