Our client is a global software organisation with an office in Melbourne. Due to a busy period on an exciting project, they are seeking a Senior Java Developer to join the team.
* Initial contract to end of Feb starting ASAP - start before Xmas
* Rates fully negotiable depending on experience
* South Melbourne location plus hybrid work-from-home
Responsibilities will include:
* Collaborate to clarify requirements, especially in terms of testability, consistency, and completeness
* Collaborate with the team to define solutions to requirements.
* Design, develop, and unit test applications in accordance with established standards.
* Analyse and resolve technical and application problems.
* Participate in peer‑reviews of solution designs and related code.
* Maintain high standards of software quality within the team by establishing good practices and habits
* Assist with testing to meet committed project deliverables.
* Actively participate in Agile ceremonies to drive continuous improvement.
Qualifications & Prerequisite Requirements:
* 4 – 6 years of enterprise software design skills in Java
* Experience with Springboot
* Tertiary Degree in Computer Science, Software Development/Engineering, or equivalent.
* Solid experience in designing and developing RESTful APIs.
* Skills with Source Management (Git, TFS, etc), build scripting (Gradle, Maven, Make), and build servers Bamboo/Jenkins.
* Hands on experience with databases - Oracle (including PL/SQL), Postgres, MS SQL Server, (NoSQL like Mongo a bonus)
* Used source control management systems and continuous integration (CI)/deployment environments (CD)
* Unit Testing & Test‑Driven Development (TDD)
* Experience with Docker and Kubernetes a plus
* Worked with *nix based operating systems
* Exposure to JIRA or similar issue tracker
* Exposure to case management, workflow and BPM would be highly regarded (specifically Pega Systems). (not required but useful)
* Experience with debugging, performance profiling and optimization
* Practiced Agile development methodologies including Kanban and Scrum
