About the Role
This role is responsible for the accurate location, interpretation, and reporting of underground services across a diverse range of projects. You will work both independently and as part of a collaborative team alongside surveyors, project managers, and other service locators to deliver high-quality outcomes in line with industry standards and company procedures.
The role is predominantly field-based and involves outdoor work across metropolitan and regional South Australia.
This position suits an experienced locator who takes pride in accuracy, understands the limitations of locating technologies, and values delivering reliable information to clients and project teams.
Key Responsibilities
* Operate advanced service locating equipment with a strong understanding of technical capability, limitations, accuracy, and calibration requirements
* Plan, prioritise, and manage locating tasks to meet project deadlines and changing site conditions
* Accurately interpret, validate, and communicate locating results to clients, project managers, and internal teams
* Prepare clear and comprehensive service locating documentation, reports, and sketches where required
* Work closely with survey teams to support integrated service mapping outcomes
* Maintain equipment and vehicles to company standards, ensuring they remain safe and fit for purpose
* Work in accordance with company safety procedures and WHS requirements at all times
About You
Essential
* Current and valid Driver’s Licence
* Demonstrated experience in underground service locating or utility surveying
* Ability to interpret DBYD plans and asset information
* Experience using GPR (ground penetrating radar) and EMF locating equipment
* Recognised service locating certification (e.g. CERTLOC Global Certified Locator or equivalent)
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
* Ability to complete daily reports, site photos, sketches, and as-built mark-ups
* Strong communication skills and ability to work both independently and within a team
* Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and police check
* Strong working knowledge of AS 5488:1:2022 – Classification of Subsurface Utility Information (SUI)
Desirable
* Experience using and processing multi-array GPR systems such as Stream DP
* Completion of RICCM202E – Identify, locate and protect underground services
