Support Mental Health and Wellbeing

The Queensland Government's focus is on ensuring every state school student has access to a wellbeing professional, and this role is critical to achieving that goal.
About the Role
The position is part of the Student Wellbeing Workforce, recruiting wellbeing professionals to work in state schools with vacancies in the Metropolitan North region. This is a temporary part-time role, with varying FTE percentages based on the needs of the school and the workforce.
Key Responsibilities Include
* Individual and Group Counselling: Undertake individual and group counselling sessions with students, parents, and families to assist them in resolving mental health concerns.
* Psycho-Educational Assessments: Administer specialised psycho-educational assessments to identify learning and adjustment difficulties, including assessments of cognitive, academic, behavioural, emotional, social, and adaptive functioning.
* Referral and Coordination: Identify needs and participate in the referral, coordination, and planning of services for children, parents, and families with other stakeholders, including community agencies such as health and welfare.
* Training and Development: Coordinate or assist in the implementation of professional development programs for teachers, parents, schools, and other professionals, focusing on supporting students' mental health and wellbeing.
* Record Keeping and Reporting: Develop and maintain confidential record keeping and reporting systems for individual students referred for psychological services, in line with department procedures and policies.

* Ability to work autonomously and as part of school and multi-disciplinary teams.
* Clinical, problem-solving, and reasoning skills for working with young people and their families.
* Strong communication skills for therapeutic intervention and liaising with stakeholders.
* Effective supervision and leadership skills to support other clinicians and lead teams.
