The unit is supported by a pre-admission's clinic and feeds five busy operating theatres including endoscopy services and PACU.The hospital covers a wide range of surgical specialties including Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, Trauma, General surgery, Endoscopy, Gynaecology, Plastics, Pain, ENT and Minor Vascular.Peri-operative staff are a close-knit team who are highly skilled in their areas working with skilled surgeons and anaesthetists using the best modern equipment to provide patients with a high-quality perioperative journey.The role is offered on a Permanent full-time basis, working 38 hours per week.**The Position:*** Leading and managing the perioperative team to deliver patient centered care to achieve optimal patient outcomes within allocated resources whilst supporting and promoting the Mission and Values of St John of God Health Care (SJGHC).* Work very closely with the Manager Perioperative Services and Clinical Risk team, as well as the Learning and Development Team to ensure that all national quality standards expectations; ACORN and unit KPI's are met and adhered to.* Provide leadership and management to all departments in the Perioperative Unit – Preadmission, DPU, Theatre and PACU, Angiography Suite as well as support to the administration teams on a daily basis.* Oversee and liaise the day-to-day management and staffing requirements with the coordinator of each area as per unit goals and expectations.* Work closely with and assist the Manager Perioperative Services with the following:* + Patient safety and quality - SAC1 incidents, incident investigation & quality audits + Workforce - Mandatory competencies, PR&Ds, education & rostering + VMO satisfaction - VMO NPS + Patient experience - Hospital NPS & patient journey expectations + Financial Stewardship - Theatre utilisation & WHpOM, financial KPIsCurrent registration through the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA), and a strong background in theatre nursing, is required for this role. The successful candidate will have proven experience in leading and coordinating staff within a dynamic perioperative setting, demonstrating a commitment to delivering high-quality care to both patients and Visiting Medical Officers (VMOs). Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills are essential, along with a collaborative and professional approach to team leadership.To thrive in this role, you will be proficient in key hospital systems, including webPAS and OneStaff, and possess the ability to effectively direct and supervise clinical staff within the perioperative environment. A proactive mindset, strong problem-solving abilities, and the confidence to provide constructive performance and behavioural feedback are critical.
