About the Role
FMS Group is seeking a Senior Estimator – Workshop to join our WA Workshop team. This role is responsible for preparing accurate fabrication quotations, managing RFQs, and supporting production planning, scheduling, and procurement activities.
You will play a key role in ensuring estimates are commercially sound, aligned with technical specifications, and delivered on time to support workshop operations and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare detailed fabrication estimates from drawings, specifications, and RFQs
* Analyse material requirements, labour, and fabrication processes using rate tables
* Source and manage supplier and subcontractor pricing
* Ensure all estimates align with scope, budget, and timelines
* Support workshop scheduling, production planning, and project pipeline management
* Coordinate site visits, measure-ups, and job scoping activities
* Maintain strong communication with internal teams and clients
* Ensure timely responses to customer enquiries and RFQs
* Mentor and support team members in estimating and quoting processes
* Identify risks, improvements, and process efficiencies
* Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and company standards
About You
* Trade or Engineering qualification (or Engineering Degree)
* Minimum 2+ years’ experience in mining, heavy earthmoving, or fabrication environments
* Strong understanding of fabrication processes and workshop operations
* Experience in estimating, project planning, or operations coordination
* Advanced Microsoft Office skills (MS Project highly regarded)
* Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
* Proactive, collaborative, and solutions-focused mindset
Desirable
* Project Management qualifications (Diploma, CAMP, or PMP)
* First Aid & CPR certification
* Leadership or management training
