We have an exciting full-time opportunity for a Laboratory Manager to lead, support, and manage the local team of staff within the Horsham Laboratory.
As the Laboratory Manager, you will play a crucial role in establishing our new lab's protocols, selecting, and implementing laboratory equipment from the ground up.
This is a unique opportunity to shape the lab's culture and processes from the start, creating a foundation for patient-centred care and clinical excellence.
As the Laboratory Manager, you will become part of a passionate, vibrant, and engaged team who will be responsible for:
Performing all laboratory/scientific accountabilities and responsibilities
Training other laboratory staff in standards, procedures, and protocols in practice in the laboratory through an understanding of the underlying principles involved as distinct from the practices
Managing the consumables and laboratory expenditure
Liaising with hospital representatives regularly
Maintaining ongoing competency assessments of staff
Performing evaluation and review of technical methods and equipment
Reviewing incidents and complaints and implementing corrective actions
Preparing staff rosters to ensure continuous service in laboratory or scientific areas covering all shifts including on-call
Processing timecards for staff members
Participating in the recruitment of staff
Implementing succession planning to ensure the ongoing stability of the laboratory
About you
To be considered for this position, you will need to meet the essential requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, or AIMS accredited
Certification or eligibility for certification by a recognised professional body
Advanced knowledge of standard pathology testing techniques and procedures
Previous experience in a multi-skill set pathology laboratory, including Chemistry, Haematology, Microbiology & Transfusion Medicine
Demonstrate integrity and professionalism in all tasks
Show strong communication and a proactive approach to problem-solving
Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment
