Are you ready to join a team where your creativity and technical skill will help craft beautiful, functional cabinetry? If so, we invite you to consider this exceptional opportunity with our cabinet making business as a Shop Drawer/Drafts person.

About Us

Founded on a love for fine craftsmanship and a commitment to quality, our cabinet making company has been serving residential, commercial, and bespoke clientele for over four decades. Our reputation is built on attention to detail, outstanding customer service, and an unwavering dedication to excellence—from initial concept to final installation.

Our projects range from commercial fit-outs, architectural joinery to custom kitchens and bathrooms. We pride ourselves on blending traditional woodworking techniques with state-of-the-art technology, delivering unique solutions tailored to our clients' needs.

To support our continued growth, we are seeking a talented Shop Drawer/Drafts person to join our collaborative and passionate team.

Position Overview

As a Shop Drawer/Drafts person, you will play a pivotal role in the heart of our design and manufacturing process. Your primary responsibility will be to produce accurate, detailed shop drawings and technical drafts for our cabinetry and joinery projects. These drawings will be used by our workshop and installation teams to bring each project to life.

You will work closely with clients, project managers, and skilled tradespeople to ensure that every detail is captured and every design is both beautiful and build able. This is a position that requires creativity, technical precision, and excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

· Prepare comprehensive shop drawings and technical drafts for cabinet making and joinery projects using CAD software (e.g., PaletteCAD, AutoCAD, Microvellum, or similar).

· Interpret architectural plans, specifications, and client sketches, translating them into detailed, production-ready drawings.

· Collaborate with project managers, designers, and workshop staff to ensure feasibility, accuracy, and efficiency of designs.

· Participate in project meetings and site visits to gather dimensions, clarify requirements, and resolve design challenges.

· Maintain and update drawing files, records, and documentation for each project.

· Provide technical support and advice to team members throughout the project life cycle.

· Ensure all drawings comply with relevant codes, regulations, and company standards.

· Identify potential issues and propose practical, creative solutions to enhance design, functionality, and build ability.

· Assist with revisions and updates to shop drawings as projects evolve.

· Help foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement in the drafting department.

About You

We are looking for someone who is as enthusiastic about cabinetry and design as we are. The ideal candidate will possess a mix of technical expertise, creative flair, and practical problem-solving skills. You are comfortable working independently, yet thrive in a team environment.

Key Qualities and Requirements

· Previous experience as a shop drawer, drafts person, or similar drafting role within the cabinet making, joinery, or woodworking industry.

· Proficient in CAD drafting software (PaletteCAD, Microvellum, SketchUp, or equivalent).

· Strong understanding of cabinetry construction, joinery techniques, and industry standards.

· Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy—your drawings are clear, precise, and leave nothing to guesswork.

· Ability to interpret complex architectural/construction plans and translate concepts into practical, buildable solutions.

· Excellent communication skills—able to liaise effectively with clients, designers, and tradespeople alike.

· Time management skills and the ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines.

· Problem-solving mindset and the confidence to propose innovative ideas.

· Formal qualifications in drafting, design, joinery, or a related field.

· Experience with 3D modelling and rendering is a bonus, but not essential.

Why Join Us?

· Be part of a respected, forward-thinking company with a strong reputation for quality and innovation.

· Work on a diverse range of high-end residential, commercial, and bespoke projects.

· Collaborate with a passionate team of experienced designers, tradespeople, and project managers.

· Enjoy a supportive, inclusive, and creative workplace culture where your ideas are valued.

· Modern drafting workspace equipped with the latest tools and technology.
