The Department of Lands, Planning and Setting (DLPE) incorporates the Flora and Fauna Division.
This division provides scientific assessments, conducts monitoring, and develops management strategies for the Territory's unique species and biodiversity.
The DLPE aligns its threatened species assessments with a Common Assessment Method (CAM) to ensure consistency with national standards and implements specific research and management programs.
As a Wildlife Technical Officer, you provide technical support and expertise to the implementation of the Management Program for the Saltwater Crocodile in the Northern Territory.
Your responsibilities involve assisting with planning, liaising with Traditional Owners, landholders and key stakeholders, and conducting crocodile population surveys and field research.
This includes assisting with regulation and compliance activities, operating and maintaining field survey equipment and the collecting and recording data.
To be successful you require demonstrated experience planning and organising field-based projects and research, operating in remote field locations within marine / aquatic environments, and the ability to communicate effectively with Aboriginal communities, government agencies and key stakeholders.
Certifications as a Coxswain from the Australian Maritime Safety Authority, knowledge of crocodile biology and management, and experiencing using Geographic
