About the Role
This is an exciting nursing opportunity to work with an enthusiastic multidisciplinary pain team in the outpatient setting. The role offers broad clinical exposure and the chance to contribute meaningfully to patient care for people living with complex chronic pain conditions. The patients vary in age from late teen to mid 90's, can experience cancer related pain, musculoskeletal pain, post‐surgical pain conditions and many other conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and lead the pre‐clinic education program, STEPS, including patient coordination, scheduling, and referral triage.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings with a focus on excellent patient‐centred care.
- Attend theatre sessions to assist with pain procedures where appropriate.
- Conduct post‐operative follow‐up calls and manage as appropriate.
- Support hydrotherapy classes for patients with chronic pain alongside senior physiotherapists.
- Support other group programmes run by the pain allied health team, such as group gym exercise and the occupational therapy based group.
Qualifications and Experience
- Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with relevant post‐registration qualifications and at least 3 years' experience working in the clinical area of their specified post‐graduate qualification, or such other qualifications or equivalent experience deemed appropriate by the public hospital or public health organisation.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritise and problem‐solve to manage the complex clinical care needs of patients through the development and use of clinical management plans.
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills with advanced interpersonal and problem‐solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work individually and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated experience in leading and initiating activities to improve clinical service delivery and patient clinical outcomes.
- Computer skills including word processing, presentation, spreadsheet applications and clinical information systems.
- Knowledge of complex interventional pain management techniques and pain education is preferred.
