Technical Specialist Job Description
The Technical Specialist role is a pivotal position that demands technical expertise to drive business growth and expansion in the export hay industry. This critical function requires an individual who can provide expert support, educate customers on the nutritional benefits of Australian Oaten Hay, and develop research programs to enhance existing products and potential new offerings.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Developing Research Programs: Design and implement research initiatives, including establishing testing procedures for assessing raw materials and finished products.
2. Building Research Initiatives: Create research programs incorporating current developments to improve existing products and potential new products.
3. Writing Technical Proposals: Develop and submit high-quality proposals to secure funding opportunities across various stakeholder groups.
4. Tender and Grant Opportunities: Identify and pursue tender or grant opportunities with government agencies, universities, and other relevant stakeholders.
5. Reporting and Development: Provide timely updates on company product technical issues and market developments.
6. Collaboration and Engagement: Work closely with Balco staff to identify new opportunities for learning and growth in the R&D area, and develop an engagement plan to connect with universities, government, and the broader agriculture sector.
7. Presentation and Education: Present at industry events on research topics, and prepare educational materials to promote global understanding of oaten hay use.
The ideal candidate will possess a master's degree in plant or animal science, with a PhD considered highly advantageous. A background in agricultural or related sectors, experience in grasses and/or dairy milk nutrition and production, extensive research experience, published articles, excellent relationship building skills, and attention to detail are essential requirements for this role.
