Head of Retail ANZ role at SEPHORA. The Head of Retail reports to the General Manager of Sephora ANZ and has full responsibility for the success and growth of the Retail stores within the business. You will drive commercial targets and increase store conversion rates by elevating client experience in stores, leading and developing a diverse retail team across multiple stores in ANZ, and building strong relationships with key stakeholders to drive in-store results.

- Overseeing stores, mentoring and directing strategies for success to drive sales
- Developing sound strategies with insightful analysis of customer behavior, the competitive landscape, offerings and market trends to increase market share
- Evaluating data related to sales, promotions, competitors, and client feedback to achieve targets and drive growth
- Preparing and presenting regular financial reports and forecasts, analyzing business trends and KPIs, including client experience metrics and sales performance
- KPI: Achieve sales targets, revenue growth, and profitability goals for all retail stores, including payroll targets
- KPI: Increase/protect market share
Client Experience
- Position competitive services for each store with understanding of Clients’ profiles and engagement for Sephora members
- Champion client-centric culture with strong floor management and adoption of digital tools to exceed customer experience and build loyalty
- Optimize store layouts to enhance shopping experiences while maximizing sales
- KPI: Drive conversion rate and Love Meter scores
- Develop and implement strategies to build a robust succession bench for Store Leaders, using OMR and targeted talent programs
- Collaborate with HR to design incentive programs to drive sales performance
- Lead training programs to enhance employee skills and monitor implementation in stores
- Coach and develop the retail team to support growth and career paths
- Increase employee loyalty through professional development opportunities and recognition
- Manage and retain a diverse high-performing retail team aligned with Sephora Purpose and Values
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement store-wide strategy
- KPI: Retention rate, Employee Satisfaction score
Operational Excellence
- Oversee sales budgets and the P&L; for each store with the Retail Operations Manager and Store Leaders, including payroll and store expenses
- Ensure visual merchandising and space planning adhere to regional guidelines and brand consistency
- Work with the Retail Operations Manager to embed processes and procedures
- Enforce adherence to operations manuals for consistent execution
- Foster continuous feedback between Head Office and Store Teams
- Refine operational processes to support growth without compromising quality or client experience
- Implement loss prevention strategies and ensure compliance
- Enhance back-of-house efficiency and ensure a healthy work environment
- KPI: Ensure compliance to LVMH Code of Conduct and Sephora policies
Store Network Optimisation
- Collaborate on expansion of the store network and new store openings
- Maintain valuable relations with landlords
- KPI: Achievement of new store openings and management of existing network
Qualifications
- Professional experience of more than 10 years in retail with a track record of enhancing client experience and driving conversion
- Strong retail acumen, commercial skills, attention to detail, and client-centric mindset
- Demonstrated leadership to achieve sales and profitability
- Comfort with financial aspects (budget, daily store figures) and understanding impact of client experience investments
- Strong management skills and ability to lead, motivate, and adapt in a rapidly changing environment
- Operations-minded and hands-on; able to spend time in stores to assist teams
- Strategic thinking with ability to develop and implement retail strategies
- Strong negotiation and influencing skills to build consensus across teams
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills using client feedback and data
