Opportunity Summary:
A key role within our team is available for an Aboriginal Identified individual to contribute to the protection and conservation of NSW's environment and heritage.
The Field Officer will be responsible for various tasks including pest and weed control, maintenance, construction, and conservation works. Additionally, they will operate and maintain plant and equipment, participate in fire management activities, respond to visitor enquiries, and assist with compliance activities.
Key requirements include being of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent, identifying as such, and being accepted by the community. Applicants must have demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal people, government organisations, and communities, with knowledge, respect, and understanding of cultural issues.
Essential qualifications include a current Australian Class C Drivers license or equivalent, four-wheel driving certification, and the ability to obtain relevant SafeWork NSW certification. Certification in operating a chainsaw and two-way radio communication is also necessary, as well as willingness to fly in light aircraft and undertake frontline firefighting duties.
