Communications and Media Officer
Basketball Tasmania is committed to becoming the sport of choice for Tasmanians through the provision of high-quality participation experiences, development programs and services. An exciting position is available within our team driving the coordination, development, implementation and management of communication and media strategies for Tasmanian Basketball. The successful candidate will work collaboratively across internal and external stakeholders to tell our story and drive engagement across all Basketball platforms. We seek a broad skill base covering communication, all media, digital and content creation. We seek an energetic team player, with high level attention to detail and the ability to build and maintain relationships and communicate with a broad range of stakeholders. Salary and package will be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Key responsibilities
* General
* Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to tell our story and drive engagement across all platforms.
* Lead brand positioning to ensure consistency across all communications, competitions, programs and stakeholder touchpoints.
* Oversee brand guidelines and ensure consistent visual and messaging standards.
* Provide analysis and reporting to help build knowledge, understanding and insight for ongoing strategies and campaign development.
* Create content that allows us to communicate with our community and grow our audience.
* Provide management of publications as required, including the Annual Report.
* Collaborate with CAMs and NBL1 clubs to align promotional activity and maximise statewide impact.
* Stay abreast of online and social media trends, innovations and best practice across the industry to continue evolving our content.
* Media, Digital and Content
* Manage all external media enquiries and requests for interviews with key staff, athletes and coaches.
* Build professional and friendly media relations to enable increased positive media coverage of all levels of the game.
* Track direct media coverage and keep aware of wider topical issues to best prepare, advise and protect Basketball Tasmania.
* Write, edit and distribute content for website, press releases, and marketing material.
* Prepare and manage the organisation's communication and media budget.
* Maintain Digital Strategy across website, social media and EDM platforms.
* Organise and coordinate events to promote key messages (Gala nights, media days and other basketball events).
* Create (Canva / Adobe Suite) and share engaging social media content across various platforms – BTAS, NWBU & TSBL pages.
* Maintain a well-structured content calendar to ensure consistent posting across all platforms.
* Coordinate videography and production for the organisation as needed and manage the visual library.
* Provide written content and source imagery for publications, promotions and advertising as required.
* Work alongside BTAS contracted photographers for suitable match images and provide other external photography briefs as required.
* Commercial Communications
* Support the development and execution of BTAS commercial strategy.
* Work collaboratively to enhance partner retention and long-term commercial relationships.
* In collaboration with internal stakeholders, plan, develop and deliver a schedule for electronic direct mail distributions.
* Provide analysis and reporting on all digital media platforms.
* Maintain digital media archives including photos and videos.
* Contribution to board papers on a regular basis.

* Promote and embody BTAS values and culture.
* Adopt a whole-of-organisation mindset in achieving strategic objectives.
* Maintain compliance with BTAS policies, safety standards and integrity frameworks.
* Pursue ongoing professional development in marketing, digital innovation and sports commercialisation.

* Any other duties reasonably requested.
