Key Responsibilities
* We calculate and advise on recoverable litigation and investigation costs.
* We prepare documents and brief external legal professionals.
* We negotiate litigation and investigation costs on behalf of our organization.
* We recover civil litigation costs in consultation with Litigation and Special Counsel.
* We brief external counsel on cost recovery.
* We provide briefings to Senior Executives and Commissioners.
* We identify and lead process improvement projects for cost recovery.
* We stay updated on our governance and relevant legislation.
* We ensure external and internal guidance on cost recovery is accurate.
* We develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* We innovate cost recovery processes for our Legal Services team.
* We provide general legal support to Litigation and Special Counsel.
What You Need To Succeed
* You should have a Bachelor's degree in Law and admission to the Supreme Court of an Australian State or Territory as a solicitor or barrister.
* You should have a current legal practising certificate (or eligibility to obtain one) from the relevant State law society.
* You should have demonstrated skills and experience in calculating legal costs, particularly in civil litigation.
* You should have strong numerical skills and the ability to negotiate with external stakeholders regarding legal and investigative costs.
* You should be able to analyse legal issues, advise on options, and recommend actions within a regulatory environment.
* You should have excellent oral and written communication skills.
* You should be able to work independently with limited supervision and be accountable for outcomes.
* You should be detail-oriented, proactive, and able to make a significant impact.
