About the Role: Fire Spotters are casual on-call operators responsible for working independently and with other fire towers to detect unplanned fires early, particularly during the Fire Danger Period or as needed. Responsibilities include: * Always maintain a vigilant watch for fires and report suspected fires * Assist with the monitoring of prescribed fires * Monitor fire/s to determine if, or in which direction/s the fire/s may be expanding * Pinpoint ground location and identify corresponding map reference * Provide knowledge on local area (in which the tower is located) * Convey and receive information via radio * Undertake basic weather monitoring * Complete accurate and timely relevant records and other documentation About You: * Superior Judgement and Decision-Making Skills * Demonstrated knowledge and experience of map reading and application.
