HOTA, Home of the Arts Precinct
This role will be based at HOTA, Home of the Arts. HOTA is an iconic Gold Coast destination where art, entertainment, culture and lifestyle meet. A place that locals love and visitors must-see. HOTA offers a diverse suite of venues and facilities, including a gallery, outdoor stage, indoor theatres and cinemas, function and events rooms, as well as a range of food and beverage venues including the HOTA Café, the rooftop Exhibitionist Bar and three hat Palette Restaurant.
At the heart of HOTA’s identity is a rich and diverse program: live music, theatre, dance, comedy, film, visual art exhibitions, children’s shows, community workshops, and festivals - all taking place across the array of venues.
About the Role
The Housekeeping Supervisor will oversee all cleaning operations across the HOTA Precinct. This role is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and safety are consistently maintained.
The position will supervise the housekeeping team, ensuring efficient operations through effective rostering, staff supervision, performance management, stock control, and administrative oversight.
Additionally, the role involves maintaining most gallery spaces and ensuring the overall upkeep of the precinct to provide a welcoming and specialised guest experience.
Key Responsibilities
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Team Leadership & Coordination:
* Supervise, motivate, and monitor the housekeeping team to ensure work outcomes align with standards and expectations.
* Provide on-the-job training, guidance, and support to housekeeping team members regarding workplace policies and procedures.
* Assist the Housekeeping Manager in maintaining department roster coverage to ensure adequate staffing levels.
Operational Responsibilities:
* Work alongside the team, assisting with cleaning tasks within the HOTA Precinct and Gallery as required.
* Coordinate with external contractors to facilitate project-based activities, such as annual preventative maintenance (e.g., carpet cleaning, window cleaning).
* Ensure that all housekeeping equipment and supplies are maintained and utilised efficiently.
Compliance & Safety:
* Ensure adherence to safe working practices in compliance with Workplace Health and Safety Act and Regulations.
* Monitor and address workplace hazards, reporting concerns to management as required.
Communication & Collaboration:
* Communicate effectively with team members, management, and members of the public to resolve routine housekeeping matters.
* Liaise with the Housekeeping Manager and the Senior Management Team to implement operational improvements and maintain service quality and the guest experience.
What We're Looking For
* A minimum of 3 years supervisory experience in cleaning services at hotel, venue or a public building environment
* Experience in workforce scheduling
* Experience maintaining department consumables and preventative maintenance schedules
* Excellent customer service and communication skills
* Detailed knowledge of safe working practices of cleaning services
* A highly self-motivated, well organised, and problem-solving individual
* Walking and standing for extended periods.
* Climbing, bending, kneeling, and cleaning floors by hand.
* Pushing, pulling, lifting, and moving objects weighing 5–10kg.
* Availability to work on a 5-day rotating roster across the HOTA Precinct
While not required, the following qualifications would be highly regarded:
* Certificate III in Cleaning Operations
* Workplace Health & Safety Training
