About the Role Under the guidance of the Certifying Specialist Engineer, we are seeking to appoint an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team.Full Time | 9-day fortnight | 36 hoursFrom $111,401 plus SuperannuationPosition Brief – Senior EngineerResponsibilitiesLead the development of project scope for mechanical engineering projects, ensuring alignment with client requirements, operational needs, and relevant industry standards.Provide technical support to the Certifying Specialist Engineer, assisting with current and upcoming design commitments, particularly in mechanical systems assessments and design verification.Design mechanical systems using relevant engineering design software and tools, supporting the development of efficient, compliant, and sustainable solutions.Demonstrate hands‐on experience in the design and assessment of mechanical systems (e.g., HVAC, pumping systems, hydraulic systems, mechanical plant), ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation across a variety of projects.Utilise software such as AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office for drafting reviews, markups, documentation, and technical reporting.Perform detailed assessments of mechanical systems associated with Council infrastructure, providing expert technical advice to internal and external stakeholders and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and standards.Review mechanical design drawings and documentation prepared by external consultants, ensuring alignment with Council design standards, regulatory requirements, and project objectives.Evaluate mechanical infrastructure associated with Council-owned assets, providing guidance to internal teams and external contractors on maintenance requirements, upgrades, and lifecycle improvements.Develop clear and comprehensive technical specifications for mechanical services and systems, ensuring requirements are properly documented and aligned with project outcomes.Conduct detailed assessments of existing mechanical infrastructure and plant to determine suitability for ongoing projects and recommend upgrades or improvements where required.Provide technical advice and design input for mechanical system layouts, plant arrangements, and service reticulation to ensure compliance with Council's Infrastructure Design Policy and relevant standards.Contribute to the planning and implementation of city-wide mechanical infrastructure programs, undertaking investigations, preparing designs, and collaborating with stakeholders to support operational and community outcomes.QualificationsHold a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and demonstrate extensive experience in mechanical design.Hold a current C Class Drivers Licence.Registered Professional Engineer QLD (RPEQ) – Mechanical, or be working towards it.WHS General Construction White Card (desirable).Benefits9-day fortnight.Flexible work arrangements to suit your lifestyle, including hybrid/work-from-home options, flexible working hours and locations.Personal and professional development courses.Access to 350+ fitness facilities through Fitness Passport.Four free confidential counselling sessions a year for you or an immediate family member.One free nutritionist and financial advice session per year.We're committed to creating a diverse workplace and inclusive culture.
