The Operations Role
Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to oversee and coordinate daily operations across a diverse irrigated cropping enterprise.
Agronomy and Mechanical Expertise: The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership, excellent agronomy and mechanical knowledge, and practical experience in crop production systems.
Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement crop plans, irrigation schedules, and agronomy programs in collaboration with owners and agronomists. Monitor crop performance and health; manage pests, diseases, and weeds utilising integrated management practices. Supervise and manage farm staff, seasonal workers, and contractors. Maintain and improve irrigation systems (centre pivots, hard hose, and solid set systems), ensuring optimal water use.
A Successful Family Business
This successful family-run farming enterprise is based in the Southern Riverina, specialising in the production of certified seed potatoes, pasture and forage seed, irrigated cropping and trades approximately 100 head of beef cattle annually. Future plans for increasing the vegetable cropping program are already underway. We are seeking a driven individual, skilled in seedstock and machinery operation, who has a mature approach to both work and life, and who is passionate about the agricultural industry and possesses the following:
* Minimum 5 years' experience in commercial cropping farming
* Contribute to strategic planning, budgeting, and continuous improvement of farm practices
* Practical agronomy knowledge
* HR, ChemCert, and forklift/loader tickets are desirable
* Mechanically minded with ability to diagnose and oversee machinery repair and maintenance
* High level of organisation, time management, and problem-solving ability
* Strong understanding of irrigation systems and water management
