The Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to join their collaborative in‑house legal team. This is a diverse and hands‑on role providing comprehensive legal support across a range of commercial and infrastructure matters. Working closely with business leaders and project teams, you will support major construction, procurement and operational initiatives to deliver effective risk management and commercial outcomes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide variety of commercial and construction contracts, including consultancy agreements, service contracts, and major works packages.
- Providing strategic legal advice across corporate, property and regulatory matters.
- Supporting procurement and project delivery teams through clear, commercially focused legal guidance.
- Advising on contract interpretation, claims and dispute resolution strategies.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, governance frameworks and organisational policies.
- Managing engagement with external legal advisors where required.
This position offers exposure to a broad mix of work across the project lifecycle, from early procurement through to delivery and operations (property, finance, general corporate) – ideal for a lawyer seeking a varied, impactful role in a complex and evolving business environment.
The Candidate
The ideal candidate will have between 5–10 years of post‑admission experience (PAE) gained in a reputable law firm or in‑house legal team, with solid experience across commercial contracting or corporate law.
Key attributes include:
- Demonstrated ability to draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial and construction agreements, including consultancy, procurement and service contracts.
- Solid understanding of contract strategy and risk management principles.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with confidence to advise and influence across all levels of the business.
- A commercial and solutions‑focused mindset, able to balance legal risk with practical business outcomes.
- The ability to work autonomously while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
- Sound judgment, adaptability and professionalism in managing competing priorities.
