Position Summary
(Overall purpose of this position)
* Support providers in patient examination and treatment, including room preparation, instrument sterilization, and assisting during procedures.
* Perform delegated duties under the supervision of the dentist, as per State Board of Dental Examiners regulations.
* Document patient visits and treatment information in EMR.
* Assist with x-rays, medical/dental histories, vital signs, and postoperative instructions.
* Help manage medical and dental emergencies and maintain patient flow.
* Ensure cleanliness and stock supplies in operatories, and dispose of contaminated materials properly.
* Support quality improvement initiatives and team participation.
* Perform sealants and basic cleanings as billable services.
Qualifications
* Completion of a dental assistant training program.
* Certified CDA and Ohio State Dental Radiograph permit.
* Current BLS certification.
* Knowledge of OSHA guidelines, universal precautions, and bloodborne pathogens.
* Proficiency with electronic medical records.
* Interpersonal skills including empathy, trust, and respect.
* Critical thinking, independence, teamwork, and attention to detail.
Physical Demands and Environment
* Ability to see, communicate, hear, and use electronic devices.
* Ability to walk, sit, stand for long periods, and lift up to 50 lbs.
* Work environment can be stressful at times.
Previous experience is not necessary; this is an entry-level position.
