Job Role
The Parks Program Officer plays a key role in enhancing Hobart's parks and open spaces through strategic planning, contractor coordination, and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
* Managing external contractors to ensure compliance with city standards and specifications.
* Creating the Park Care program, liaising with community groups, and organizing weekend activities and rosters.
* Maintaining inspection programs for green assets and contributing to long-term park improvement and planting plans.
* Responding professionally to public enquiries, ensuring all communications are documented appropriately.
* Assisting with policy reviews and service level documentation to support high-quality park management.
You will bring:
* A certificate IV in Horticulture or similar, a current driver's license, and registration to work with vulnerable people.
* Demonstrated experience in managing parks operations, including contractor oversight and project delivery.
* Strong horticultural knowledge with the ability to prepare technical specifications and manage procurement processes.
* Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage stakeholders, resolve issues, and communicate effectively.
* Proficiency in maintaining asset databases and planning for both short and long-term park improvements.
