This position requires a seasoned legal professional who is well-versed in financial regulations, particularly those pertaining to CDR and ACL.
The ideal candidate will provide leadership in all legal aspects, ensure compliance with statutory obligations, and act as a strategic advisor to the executive team on legal and regulatory risks impacting the business.What You'll DoLegal Leadership and Strategy:Serve as the chief legal advisor to the executive team, board of directors, and other key stakeholders.Develop and lead the legal strategy to support the company's business objectives, with a keen focus on growth and innovation within the regulatory framework.Manage all corporate legal processes, including any future matters relating to mergers and acquisitions, partnerships, intellectual property, and privacy etc.Regulatory Compliance and Affairs:Oversee the company's compliance with CDR and ASIC ACL regulations, ensuring all practices, policies, and business activities meet the required legal standards.Monitor regulatory developments and advise on the impact of regulatory changes on the company's operations and business model.Lead the preparation and submission of regulatory filings, reports, and correspondence with regulatory bodies.Identify and assess legal and regulatory risks to the business, and develop mitigation strategies.Provide guidance on contract status, legal risks, and the legal liabilities associated with different deals.Build, lead, and mentor the legal and regulatory affairs team to support the company's strategic goals.Foster a culture of high performance, continuous improvement, and ethical conduct within the team.What we're looking forLLB/JD or equivalent law degree from an accredited law school.Admission to practice law in Australia.Minimum of 10 years of legal experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the financial services industry or a related field.Extensive knowledge and understanding of the CDR framework and ASIC ACL requirements.Demonstrated experience in managing legal and regulatory compliance for a financial services company.Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers.Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.Why Join WeMoney?Impactful Work: Every design decision contributes to changing the financial futures of our members.Supportive Team: Join a culture that values growth, excellence, and transparency.Growth Opportunities: Competitive salary, equity options, and ongoing professional development.Purpose-Driven: Be part of a mission that's making financial freedom a reality for everyone.Ready to Make an Impact?If you're driven by a purpose larger than yourself and excited to design the future of personal finance, we'd love to hear from you.
