Primary Location NSW - Rockdale Job Description Summary The ConnectSydney Accountant will be responsible for finance and accounting tasks to ensure accurate and timely reporting. The selected candidate will also be required to provide accounting support to the ConnectSydney business to ensure accurate forecasting and reporting of the JV’s financial performance and position, including contract performance. About the Role: ConnectSydney has a mission to serve our customers in a way that delivers sustainable outcomes every day for the customer, client, and contractor. As the Accountant, you will be responsible for finance and accounting tasks to ensure accurate and timely reporting. The selected candidate will also be required to provide accounting support to the ConnectSydney business to ensure accurate forecasting and reporting of the JV’s financial performance and position, including contract performance. This role will have a moderate level of autonomy and key tasks will include but not limited to Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and General Ledger entries and reconciliations, end of month processes (accruals/reconciliations/reporting), forecasting and budgeting, and to assist in developing and maintaining reporting packages to support decision-making in the business and JV partners. This is a 12-month fixed-term role. Your key responsibilities will include: Prepare financial documents: monthly progress claims and accounts payable/receivable in accordance with company procedures. Checking and reporting variations between invoiced amounts and payments received and verifying discounts or rebates taken. Prepare journal entries which may involve plant carrying out general banking duties and extracting statistical data from records for analysis. Analyse project costings against forecast and budgets, ensuring costings are accurate to enable the preparation of reliable forecasts. End-of-month process including accruals, balance sheet and trial balance reconciliations. Assist with updating project forecasts and budgets, with the delivery team and other reporting as required. Partnering with the business to maintain, insightfully challenge and increase effectiveness of systems and contract achievements Closely monitor projects in delivery to understand and identify if financial risks may be developing. Assist with developing and maintaining KPI analytic dashboards. Provide coverage and support to the wider finance team. For example, payroll support and leave coverage About You: Relevant tertiary qualifications in Finance or Business or Commerce with a major or sub major in Accounting and/or Finance, (or equivalent skills and knowledge) combined with a demonstrable intermediate level of project knowledge. CA / CPA qualification preferable 3 - 5 years’ experience in a commercial environment Experience in general finance and/or accounting role Strong foundations in financial principles e.g. month-end, accruals etc. Analytical and problem-solving skillset Experience with Jobpac (desirable but not essential) Advanced skills in MS Office software (particularly MS Excel) Experience working with PowerBI or similar analytics applications (desirable but not essential) How To Apply Please submit your interest with the apply button where you will be directed to create a profile on our system.
