Business Development Director – Data Consultancy (FMCG)
Locations: Sydney OR Melbourne | Base pay: A$150,000.00/yr - A$160,000.00/yr | OTE: $200,000 + SUPER
Our client offers Australia's only benchmarking system capable of providing major manufacturers and retailers with a deep, systematic understanding of shopper behaviour across any category, segment, or brand. This powerful research tool shapes the category vision, strategy, and tactical plans of over 50 top‐tier companies in grocery, pharma, and liquor, all boasting billion‐dollar turnovers.
We're looking for a dynamic, results‐driven Business Development Director to drive new business growth and expand our client's footprint across the Australian and New Zealand markets.
Key Responsibilities:
* Identify, target, and secure new business opportunities by mapping leads and building a robust pipeline
* Develop strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels
* Utilise data and insights to create compelling teasers that spark conversations and engage potential clients
* Collaborate with senior leadership to design innovative sales strategies, processes, and events to elevate the company's profile
* Lead negotiations and close contracts that deliver strong commercial outcomes
* Take core data and programs to market while identifying new channels and growth opportunities
* Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and networking functions

Experience Criteria:
* Strong business development experience with a proven track record in managing long sales cycles
* Experience in FMCG, Pharma, or Retail sectors is highly desirable
* Experience in Shopper/Category research is highly sought after, or alternatively, in market research or data intelligence where data is leveraged to drive strategy
* A natural hunter with outstanding interpersonal skills, able to build strong relationships effortlessly
* Sales-focused with a high level of motivation to achieve and exceed targets
* Demonstrated ability to engage with C‐suite decision-makers
* Self‐driven, yet capable of supporting and inspiring a team to achieve success
