About Us:
A team of 3 full-time and 2 part-time vets plus a visiting Specialist Equine Surgeon
24hr on-call service
Ambulatory and in-hospital facilities
Minor and major surgery capabilities
Portable x-ray, ultrasound, and scope
Shared in-house laboratory
Work with a diverse range of horses including racehorses, showjumpers, dressage horses, seniors, pleasure horses, and broodmares
Our vets are eager to teach and share knowledge
About the role:
Full-time nurse (38 hours/week) with reception duties as needed
Flexible weekend roster (1 in 3), public holidays, and on-call 1 night during the week
Some driving involved to allow vets time for documentation
Assist vets with appointments, trot ups, lunging, radiography, and horse restraint
Surgical nursing, field anaesthesia, patient recovery, overnight nursing, equipment sterilization, grooming, maintaining clean stables, and lab blood sampling
Monitor and treat hospitalized patients, record vital signs, and administer medications
Handle emergency triage and critical care, including newborn foals
About you:
Experienced horse person with safe working techniques
Keen to learn and develop new skills
Motivated, reliable, and flexible
Cert IV in vet nursing preferred but not essential
Confident in administering medications
Great team fit, able to work independently
Excellent communication and record-keeping skills
References and referees required
