**Job Overview**
We are seeking a skilled civil engineer to lead our team in shaping the future of energy infrastructure.
This role will provide expert guidance and oversight across our operational sites and project developments, ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant operations.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining engineering standards, technical guidelines, and specifications that ensure high-quality performance.
They will also contribute to resolving complex performance issues and implementing asset modifications through structured engineering methodologies and risk-informed decision-making.
**Key Responsibilities**
* Develop and maintain AGL's engineering standards, technical guidelines, technical specifications, and design criteria for key civil assets and projects.
* Provide technical input into design reviews, feasibility studies, capital projects, inspections, and performance assessments.
* Support the Management of Change (MOC) process for asset modifications.
* Manage project contractors, OEMs, and consultants' technical work and deliverables.
* Define civil engineering requirements and review deliverables for new energy projects aligned with our Energy Hubs vision.
* Support investigations into plant failures and performance issues, contributing to root cause analysis and resolution strategies.
* Perform risk management activities by identifying, assessing, and implementing effective controls for civil engineering-related risks.
* Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of asset health monitoring and lifecycle integrity strategies.
* Capture and share lessons learned from recent and ongoing projects to drive continuous improvement.
* Identify emerging technologies relevant to civil infrastructure, assess associated risks, and opportunities, and support their integration into future projects.
* Lead or contribute to the enhancement of engineering systems, tools, and processes to improve efficiency and consistency.
* Ensure civil engineering activities comply with relevant legal, regulatory, and safety obligations.
**Requirements**
* Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (essential).
* Eligible for membership of Engineers Australia (essential).
* Eligible for Professional Engineering certification e.g. CPEng (highly-preferred).
* Proven experience in energy generation, infrastructure, or heavy industry environments.
* Strong technical and commercial knowledge in areas such as dams, pumped hydro, earthworks, roads, drainage, concrete, and steel structures.
* Solid understanding of engineering processes, asset management principles, and project delivery methodologies.
* Ability to analyze highly complex engineering data and make sound risk-informed decisions in ambiguous or evolving conditions.
* Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence, negotiate, and balance competing priorities.
* A collaborative mindset and commitment to continuous improvement and innovation.
* Adaptability and resilience in dynamic environments, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and change.
* Willingness to travel to operational sites as required to support project delivery and asset performance.
* A constructive and team-oriented approach to leadership, with the ability to contribute to the development and performance of cross-functional teams.
