Join our Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia's future.
Downer Professional Services comprises of three business units – our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice, and Team Downer, which partners with CASG and NSSG as a major service provider to Defence. Together, we are a multi disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for clients across Defence and National Security.
We currently have an opportunity for a Technical Advisor – Battle Management Systems based in Melbourne to work on Army Land Force communications and Battle Management System (IBMS) sustainment projects.
What You'll Do
This role offers a broad scope, with key responsibilities including:
* Provide expert technical advice to the CA33 project team across the IBMS capability lifecycle, ensuring alignment with Defence standards and the LC4SB EMS
* Lead and contribute to the development, review and governance of technical documentation including EMEIs, UHBs, ILSIs, RPSs, CESs and Technical Advisory Bulletins
* Own maintenance planning activities, including determining repair levels, conducting maintenance evaluations, and supporting sustainment decision making
* Manage configuration control of IBMS operational nodes and support fleet management, sparing strategies and withdrawal of legacy BMS equipment
* Deliver timely, clear technical advice to CASG, CA33 leadership, SPO functions, end users and industry partners to support safe, effective and sustainable capability outcomes
What You'll Bring
* Demonstrated experience providing technical authority or advisory support within Defence land systems environments
* Strong background in technical documentation, configuration management and maintenance planning for complex military systems
* Experience working across Integrated Logistics Support (ILS), engineering and operational stakeholders to deliver fit for purpose outcomes
* Ability to translate complex technical issues into clear, actionable advice for senior decision makers
* Experience with SAP (or the ability to rapidly learn SAP S/4HANA workflows) to support maintenance planning and sustainment activities
Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 (NV1) security clearance. In some instances, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
