Labourer Construction & Maintenance – Dimbulah at Mareeba Shire Council. Base pay range: A$58,234.00/yr. Position Type: Full-time. Application Close Date: Thursday, 2 October 2025. Location: Dimbulah, within an easy one-hour drive from Cairns. 
Note: This role is part of the Works team and involves road maintenance and construction activities. The work includes operating mobile plant and manual handling tasks; maintaining a safe working environment and applying correct manual handling techniques. 
The Role: 
Labourers provide labouring skills to assist with a variety of road maintenance and construction activities within the works section of Council. The work is physically demanding and performed in a hot and humid climate. It includes operating plant and equipment and is subject to the satisfactory completion of a pre-employment medical assessment. This position is based in Dimbulah. 
What we are looking for 
- You will have the physical ability to undertake manual handling and labouring tasks for extended periods in hot and humid conditions 
- You will be expected to operate Council plant, machinery and vehicles and work within a team environment with limited supervision 
- You will have the ability to apply safe work practices, including manual handling techniques and follow WHS procedures and policies 
- You will have sound written and verbal communication skills
