The Native Title team within the Department's Aboriginal Engagement Directorate is responsible for leading and coordinating whole-of-Government native title negotiation, implementation and policy activities to promote positive social, economic, cultural and community outcomes for Traditional Owners in Western Australia.
About the Role The Special Advisor Native Title leads the Future Acts Unit, coordinating specialist expertise to deliver strategic advice and technical support to WA Government entities engaged in negotiations with Traditional Owners.
The role is responsible for coordinating the delivery of significant Future Act negotiations on behalf of government; driving cultural and system change across Government; and leading the development of statewide policy settings for Future Act matters.
The Unit provides strategic direction and advice on Government-led Native Title Future Act negotiations, which present a critical opportunity to fulfill WA Government priorities including the clean energy transition, decarbonisation and increased economic diversification, as well as leveraging economic development opportunities for native title holders.
The Unit is responsible for leading significant Future Act negotiations as well as providing policy advice and coordination to build capability across Government to support engagement with Traditional Owners on Future Act matters.
