Primary objective

Manage the day-to-day operations and provision of dispute resolution services for the Community Justice Centre (CJC) in

accordance with the Community Justice Centre Act 2005 (NT) and Australian Mediator and Dispute Resolution Accreditation

Standards (AMDRAS).

Context statement

The CJC is the Northern Territory Government's dispute resolution service providing mediation, training and restorative

conferencing services. This position works closely with the Director, Practice Manager in Alice Springs and Intake Officer of the

CJC to develop, implement and promote alternative dispute resolution (ADR) mechanisms across a range of dispute environments.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Coordinate all services from the point of enquiry, including Territory-wide training.

1. Manage a regional caseload including completing suitability assessments and overseeing all case arrangements.
2. Supervise, train and support staff and a panel of sessional mediators delivering services in a complex environment.
3. Coordinate and facilitate professional development opportunities for internal and external stakeholders.

4. Assist with service promotion activities including delivering presentations and developing resources.

5. Draft sound policies and procedures to ensure continuous service improvement, consistent with industry best practice.

6. Maintain and oversee case records, statistical data and reports on a client management system.

7. Assist with research and external briefings and reports, as required.

8. Undertake the responsibilities of the Work Health and Safety Representative, if required.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Demonstrated ADR experience with a strong focus on facilitative processes across a range of dispute contexts.

2. Strong cultural competence and understanding of the remote community service context.

1. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and an ability to connect with people from diverse backgrounds.
2. Demonstrated experience and skills in managing the delivery of frontline services, including a proven ability to multi-task and

manage competing priorities and identifying and implementing innovative ways to improve services.

5. Ability to provide accurate and informed advice in accordance with legislation, policy and best practice guidelines.

6. AMDRAS accreditation or qualification in an ADR discipline or the ability to quickly acquire.

Desirable

1. Experience in delivering training either under the Australian Mediator and Dispute Resolution Accreditation Standards

(AMDRAS) or previous National Mediator Accreditation System (NMAS).

2. Tertiary qualifications in law, social sciences, community development or a related discipline.
