Implement and maintain the company’s SHE Management system.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Enforce the company SHE policy and procedures.
2. Maintain the HSE legal registers.
3. Ensure compliance with all applicable HSE legislative requirements.
4. Create and maintain the SHE training needs analysis.
5. Report on the monthly lagging indicators and measure the KPI’s associated with it.
6. Report on the monthly leading indicators.
7. Maintain the health, safety and environmental statistics.
8. Assist with day-to-day SHE concerns.
9. Conduct 1st and 2nd party SHE audits.
10. Where required, facilitate 3rd party SHE audits.
11. Maintain the Intercyte and the QMS systems.
12. Create and maintain the Legal Appointments.
13. Facilitate the setup and maintenance of the equipment registers.
14. Create and facilitate the daily, weekly, and monthly equipment and workplace checklists.
15. Maintain the legal records such as load tests, service records, driving licenses, etc.
16. Facilitate and manage the medical surveillance program.
17. Ensure firefighting equipment is serviced annually.
18. Ensure that all the contractors comply with Zest and legal requirements before allowing access to site and ensure that the contractors maintain their HSE compliance.
19. Facilitate the SHE Induction training program.
20. Compile Risk Assessments and procedures for all activities and monitor compliance with these SOPs and RAs.
21. Facilitate safety talks to address the leading indicators and ensure proof of communication is kept on file, monitoring that all employees comply with the safety talk requirement.
22. Assist with incident investigation and the implementation of corrective and preventative measures.
23. Assist with compiling safety files where and when required.
24. Ensure housekeeping / 5S standards are maintained in all work areas.
25. Order, issue, and control PPE.
26. Follow any other reasonable and lawful instruction by management.
27. Assist with the control, review, and drafting of SHE documents as well as any other day-to-day administrative functions.
Qualifications and Experience
1. Matric or 2 to 3 years work experience in the Safety industry.
2. Knowledge of Intercyte will be an advantage.
3. SAMTRAC / MSRM or equivalent Course required.
4. Computer literacy – good knowledge of Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); SharePoint is an advantage.
Special Requirements
1. A legal driving licence.
2. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
3. Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing, including formal communication and making presentations.
4. Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.
5. A sense of urgency with a strong customer service orientation.
6. Willingness and freedom to travel extensively, including frequent overnight stays away from home base.
7. Hardworking, resourceful, ambitious with excellent business acumen.
Working Conditions
Mostly office-based. Travelling will be required from time to time. Subject to work beyond normal working hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays should the need arise. Attends and participates in continuing educational programs designed to keep you abreast of changes in your profession.
