Business Development Team Member – National Mining & Marine Fire Protection
Position Summary
The Business Development Team Member supports the national growth strategy across the mining and marine sectors by assisting the Business Development Managers in identifying new opportunities, nurturing leads, preparing proposals, and coordinating client engagement activities.
This role contributes to expanding ARA Fire's footprint in specialised fire protection services for high‑risk marine environments (vessels, offshore systems, compliance certification) and mining operations (fixed/mobile suppression, fire system upgrades, and essential services).

Key Responsibilities
1. Lead Generation & Market Intelligence
* Support BDMs in identifying, qualifying, and tracking new opportunities across mining and marine sectors.
* Conduct desktop research into target clients, mining operators, vessel operators, and emerging industry trends.
* Maintain a steady flow of pre‑qualified leads for follow‑up, consistent with business development support duties seen in roles like those found in external coordinator descriptions.
2. Client Engagement Support
* Assist in coordinating meetings, site visits, marine inspections, and client presentations.
* Manage follow‑ups with prospects and maintain regular communication through email, phone, and CRM updates.
* Support the preparation of capability materials and value‑add documentation as requested during supplier engagements.
3. Proposal, Tender & Document Preparation
* Assist BDMs with tenders, quotations, and technical submissions for mining and marine fire protection scopes.
* Collate supporting documents including capability statements, compliance certifications, and service outlines.
* Coordinate internal inputs from operations, compliance, and technical teams.
4. CRM, Reporting & Sales Administration
* Maintain accurate CRM records of leads, opportunities, client interactions and pipeline stages.
* Assist with reporting for BD meetings, KPI tracking, forecasting activities, and team-wide coordination.
* Prepare meeting agendas, briefing packs, and follow‑up documentation.
5. Cross‑Functional Collaboration
* Liaise with Marine and Mining operational teams to understand service offerings including:
* Vessel fire system servicing, suppression systems, compliance inspections
* Mining suppression systems, hazardous environment fire systems, and technical expertise needs
* Ensure smooth coordination during handover from business development to operations.
* Support marketing and communication of new services, differentiators, and capability expansions.

Skills & Experience Required
* Experience in business development support, coordination, sales administration, or similar role.
* Understanding or interest in fire protection, mining, or marine environments
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to prepare customer‑facing materials.
* Competence in Microsoft Office and CRM platforms.
* Strong organisation, multitasking, and follow‑up discipline.
* Ability to work collaboratively with technical and operational teams across divisions.
